Does masturbation affect sports performance?
There is no evidence that masturbation has a negative effect on sports performance. This is a common myth. Coaches will sometimes tell their male players not to masturbate or have sex just before a big game. The idea that masturbation harms sports performance comes from an old idea, that men's semen (which comes out of the penis when a man ejaculates or 'cums') literally is a source of male strength and power. So ejaculating was seen to sap men's strength and weaken them. But we know now that this is not true. Masturbation will not harm (or improve) sporting performance.
