Chlamydia is the most common Sexually Transmissible Infection (STI) in Australia, and affects 1 in 14 sexually active young people in Canberra alone.
Chlamydia affects both men and women and is easy to catch, but usually doesn’t have any symptoms, so many people don’t think to get tested for it. Chlamydia can lead to infertility if left untreated.
The SOC (Stamp Out Chlamydia) Project aims to increase awareness of this infection and the ease of testing & treating Chlamydia. SOC is also bringing on-the-spot free & confidential testing to selected public events and youth venues in Canberra.
SOC is a collaboration between SHFPACT (Sexual Health & Family Planning ACT), ACT Health (Canberra Sexual Health Centre) and the ANU (Australian National University), assisted with funding from the ACT Government.
